Land Travel from Singapore to Malaysia

It is both our first time to visit Malaysia.  I initially planned to have a day tour at Legoland before we spend the night in Melaka.  Husband said we go straight to Melaka instead because Legoland is for kids (according to him).  Good thing I didn't purchase Legoland tickets in advance.  Currently, there's a 20% discount when you purchase the tickets at least 7 days in advance.  Click here to check the updated ticket prices.

From Singapore, we boarded a tour bus going to Melaka.  I booked the tickets online the day before we departed for Malaysia.  There are 2 ways to book your ticket online.  One is with BusOnlineTicket and the other is directly thru the bus company's website.   They have the same price and pick-up point.  You can also book straight to any of the bus company's ticketing office.  In our case, I booked thru KKKLs website the earliest departure schedule which is at 8am.  When you book online, you either need a printout of the booking confirmation sent via email or just the email itself from your mobile phone.  Show it to the KKKLs office staff at the pick-up point so you can get your ticket which you need to present to the bus driver before boarding.  The pick-up point is in front of Katong V Mall, 30 East Coast Road, Singapore.  You have to go to KKKLs office at the second floor of the mall to get the printed tickets.  You also get a free bottled water for every ticket you purchase.  Their office is already open as early as 7am.

Before boarding KKKL Express bus bound to Melaka, Malaysia. This was taken a the pick-up point in front of Katong V Mall.
The bus promptly departed at 8am.  The bus is not full.  I think there were less than 20 passengers.  Travel is approximately 3 hours plus the time to fulfill the immigration process.  We were asked to alight the bus twice.  The first one is to exit Singapore.  We were not asked to bring our luggage with us.  It is prohibited to take pictures inside the immigration premises so I don't have one.  The immigration officer asked for my name as I hand him my passport.  I said my complete name and he replied with a serious face, San Miguel is a beer company.  I said yes while I laughed a bit.  The second time we alighted the bus is at the Malaysian immigration.  This time, the driver asked us to bring our luggage with us.  I did not make a research on this but I think this is to ensure that our luggage is with us should we be denied entry to Malaysia.  As per the bus company's policy, they reserve the right to leave passengers who will take more than 20 minutes at the immigration.  The Malaysian government removed the embarkation and disembarkation card for foreign visitors since June 1, 2012.  Visitors just have to put their two index fingers on the biometric scanner then wait for the officer to put stamp on the passport.  We completed this in about 10 minutes.  The bus waited for us outside the exit gate.  And then we continued to our destination which is Melaka.

So there, next I will try to blog about our short stay in Melaka.
