Feeling Rich Moment

Yesterday, we had to stop in front of a sari-sari store. All the tambays there (men and women, not a drinking session though) were looking at our red car. I got off the car having their full attention.

I can see in their eyes that they were wondering why would a car stop there.

In my office attire, with 3-inch pumps and a bag carried like a donya, it was very difficult for me to say, "Meron pong..." and literally after a second, "...Tide?".

I almost burst into laughter but I managed to maintain a serious mood and tried to look a bit friendly.

The tindera, who apparently was not the one I spoke to, said, "Tide powder?".

I replied, "Yung bar". (Talagang bar ang sinabi at hindi bareta)

Then she said, "Ilan?".

I needed just one but I replied, "Dalawa", kasi nahiya naman ako kung isa lang bibilhin ko!

I laughed really loud when I got inside the car telling him I had a hard time speaking because their eyes were all on me even before the car came to a full stop.

It is not a new thing for me to buy a detergent soap because I always wash my house clothes (only when I'm not at my parents' house). But it was the first time I had to get off a car infront of a sari-sari store to buy that. I didn't mean to look like mayaman or feelingerang mayaman. I just really needed to buy a detergent soap that time. Instead of lining up to the cashier in a grocery store just for that, buying it in a sari-sari store saved a lot of time and even had a moment to laugh at myself.
